About our away days
We host creative sessions for teams, offices, groups and organisations looking to get together, creatively, at our studios in Leeds city centre. Come for a morning or afternoon or book in for a full bespoke making day.
With the world of work increasingly moving online, getting together in person to bond as a team, socialise and get brains firing together is still super important. That's where Duke Makes comes in!
Introductory
Our introductory sessions run for 4 hours with a 1 hour break for refreshments mid session.
We will explain how the machinery works and what it can be used for, followed by a making session where you can get hands on and creative. Don't worry if you haven't made anything before our team will be with you each step of the way to give tips and help out!

Introduction to Laser cutting: Mobile making
£40 per head
Learn how to laser cut. In this course design and make your own Alexander Calder inspired balancing mobile.
Introduction to CNC: Build A Stool
£90 per head
Get to grips with CNC machining. In this course you will learn how our CNC machine works and build a stool to take away with you.
Introduction to Laser cutting: Circular Design thinking
£40 per head
Learn about laser cutting and plastic recycling. In this course you will recycle waste from our laser cutter into a new material and create a unique coaster to take away with you.
Intermediate
Fancy a deep dive into CNC routing, down to get granular about laser cutting? Are you a nerd and proud? The good news is so are we and we have you covered! We are currently testing and planning our intermediate sessions but if this sounds like your thing register your interest below and we will let you know when they are available to book!

If you want to take advantage of the creativity you've released in your session with us, we can arrange competitively priced meeting rooms at our sister company, Duke Studios, just down the road for a strategy session.

How to find us
We are just outside Leeds city centre - a short walk from Leeds train station.
The Stourton Park & Ride stops on Hunslet Road just 200m down the road.
There is limited parking avaliable on the street but is usually very busy - Crown Point car park is just the next road across but this is only free for 3 hours. There is also paid parking spots on Sheaf Street just down the road from us.
FAQ
Not hugely messy. There may be some types of away days that involve some adhesives and paints and some that will mean being around sawdust.
We are a working studio - so closed shoes are a must and we also wouldn't recommend wearing your best suit. We will provide you with PPE (personal protective equipment) where required.

You can book a morning or an afteroon away day on any weekday of your choosing. We will just need to check our availabity before confirming the date.
Group sizes are between 10 - 20 people.
We can accomodate less than 10 people but a minimum charge applies.
Yes, this would be classified as one of our bespoke Level Away days. Just get in touch to let us know your requirements and we can tailor an away day that is perfect for you and your team.
